Support the Legacy of Scholarship
Help Preserve a Legacy of Scholarship and Cultural Heritage
For more than a century, the Goethals Indian Library & Research Society has stood as a distinguished centre of research, learning, and cultural preservation. Housing rare books, manuscripts, archival records, maps, periodicals, photographs, and scholarly resources relating to South and Southeast Asia, the Society safeguards an intellectual heritage of immense historical and cultural value.
Many of these collections are unique and irreplaceable. Continual care — encompassing expert conservation, precise cataloguing, high-resolution digitisation, and research support — is required to keep these resources active and accessible. Your generosity ensures that this remarkable treasury of knowledge remains vibrant for future generations of scholars.
Why Your Support Matters
Every contribution directly fuels the Society’s mission to preserve, protect, and promote one of India's most significant archival repositories. Your donations empower us to:
Preserve Rare & Fragile Collections
Fund the specialised conservation and restoration of centuries-old volumes, manuscripts, and maps vulnerable to deterioration.
Digitise Scholarly Resources
Expand our digital archives, ensuring global accessibility for researchers while safeguarding fragile original documents from physical wear.
Enhance Research Infrastructure
Upgrade cataloguing systems, digital tools, and reading room facilities to support modern scholarly inquiry.
Acquire New Materials
Secure significant contemporary publications and historical materials to enrich our focus on South and Southeast Asian studies.
Promote Public Engagement
Support academic exhibitions, lectures, seminars, and publications that bring the library's hidden treasures to wider audiences.
